A Job ((Continued))

[mosswhisker]

Mosswhisker bounded behind Venomwind and Blizzardshard. She had just heard from Shiningheart that RiverClan is crossing into ThunderClan territory, and now she was feeling as excited as a kit who had just explored outside the nursery. "Ha! Just wait 'till tose fish eaters see us coming! They won't know what to think!" she meowed ,rather loudly, between bounces.

Venomwind shot a glare at Mosswhisker. She was clearly unimpressed. "Keep it down!" The gray warrior ordered. "Shiningheart said this was only a hunch. And if you keep up the racket, even the kits in the WindClan nursery will hear you!"

But Blizzardshard shared in Mosswhisker's excitement. "Oh, they're going to think alright. But what they're thinking will be, 'oh no, StarClan help us!'" He purred hysterically.

Mosswhisker lowered her head at Venomwind's piercing gaze. "Sorry, you're right," she mewed slowly, though excitement still rushed through her fur. To Blizzardshard she whispered, "Even if its just a hunch, and their not trespassing, it'll still be great to see the looks on RiverClan's faces when they see three tough looking cats patrolling the border. They'll be too scared to even think about crossing the border!"

Venomwind, always the one to ruin other cats' hype, snorted. "Or they'll be too offended that three cats alone could stop them, come over, and attempt to shred us to pieces." She meowed blankly.

Blizzardshard gave Venomwind an equally blank look. "Were you born this dull and joyless, or was it a learning process?" He meowed sarcastically.

Mosswhisker snickered at Blizzardshard comment. "Well, she did say 'attempt' to shred us!" she laughed. "C'mon Venomwind, it's not against the warrior code to have a little bit of fun," Mosswhisker mewed with a friendly smile spreading across her face. Just then, a sharp breeze ran through the patrol and stung her green eyes. She froze."Does any one else smell that?" she mewed bristling at the faint, almost undetectable scent.

Venomwind and Blizzardshard came to a slow stop and raised their noses to the wind. It only took one breath for them to identify what it was. "Looks like Shiningheart was right." Venomwind hissed, claws gripping the ground in anger.

Blizzardshard snorted, his own claws also unsheathed. "Of course." He mewed dully. "You say that like you doubted her." He lowered himself down to the ground. "Come on; we'll show them."

Mosswhisker let out a small growl and let her long claws slip from her paws. She narrowed her pale eyes and dropped into a silent crouch. The gray she cat stalked forward towards the bushes that disguised the scent of the enemy cats, and pushed her head a little ways through. She could just make out the outline of a cat standing between a couple of hazel bushes. The intruder was talking to someone else! Retreating back out of the bushes, Mosswhisker whispered,"They're not too far ahead! They seem rather relaxed, actually,". For the first time in a while, her green eyes sparked with confusion, and even a little fear.

Blizzardshard grinned a grin that made a shiver go down Venomwind's spine. It was filled with a manic kind of insanity that the dark gray she-cat was sure her sister knew nothing about. "Then we'll just have to give them something to worry about, won't we?" He meowed, slinking forward with his belly brushing the ground. He flicked his tail to Venomwind and Mosswhisker. "Seperate." He whispered. "Make sure to stay down wind."

Mosswhisker swallowed hard. The tone in his voice was different, rather eerie, but some how encouraging. She nodded and followed the white tom's orders. She circled around to the other side of the bushes and crouched closer to the ground. Cautiously, Mosswhisker rose her head and drew in a slow breath, making sure that she was still down wind. She whipped her head to one side, looking for Blizzardshard. "Should we attack?" she whispered softly.

Blizzardshard's answer came in the form of a battle yowl. He charged from the bushes opposite Mosswhisker, a flash of white and gray against the green leafy fronds. Venomwind followed suit, plunging from out the bushes to the right.

I'll take that as a 'yes' Mosswhisker thought excitedly as she rushed in just behind Venomwind. Her blood was heated with that familiar thrill of battle. She bared her teeth in fearsome snarl and leaped on the first cat, digging her claws into the tom's shoulders. The tom thrashed wildly and finally managed to toss her off. Mosswhisker landed hard on her paws and let out another fierce yowl before charging back in.

Blizzardshard launched himself at the other tom, his massive size easily pinning the steel-gray tom down. Green eyes glared up at him hatefully while Venomwind helped Mosswhisker. "Why are you on our territory?" Hissed Blizzardshard.

The tom underneath him grunted non-commitedly. "Because we can!" He retorted. The tom finally managed to get his back paws underneath Blizzardshard's stomach and began pummeling the large warrior off of him. Blizzardshard merely winced in pain before letting the tom up, crouching low to the ground.

"WELL GET OFF!" He yowled, batting at the air with unsheathed claws.

Mosswhisker felt claws scrape her fur as she struck another blow to the tom's shoulders. Another pelt brushed hers and the familiar scent of Venomwind hit the roof of her mouth. "You're outnumbered! You might as well give up and go back to your OWN territory!" she yowled, sending a flurry of blows towards his muzzle. The flash of more pelts coming from the bushes and the over powering scent of fish caught Mosswhisker's attention. "Now who's outnumbered?" the sinister growl came from the tom she and Venomwind were fighting.

Blizzardshard pulled back from his own enemy and came to Mosswhisker's side. He took the scruff of the warrior they were fighting and flung him into the RiverClan side. "Venomwind!" He screeched, helping the bewildered gray she-cat to her paws. "You're the fastest. Get to camp and bring reinforcements." Venomwind wasted no time following his orders. She streaked away, a dark blur against the emerald of the undergrowth. Blizzardshard turned to glare hatefully at the RiverClan warriors. "We'll hold them off." He said to Mosswhisker.

Mosswhisker lashed her tail and nodded in agreement with Blizzardshard before charging headlong into the fray. "BRING IT ON!!!" she yowled with a bloodthirsty edge. She tackled and knocked over a tabby she cat, giving her a hard bite on her ear. The she cat struggled wildly and kicked Mosswhisker in the side several times before ripping her ear away. The gray she cat flung herself back at the enemy warrior, giving her a hard bite on her hind leg as she ran back towards the River.
