Blizzardshard flung himself next to Mosswhisker, trusting the she-cat to watch his back as he would hers. Blizzardshard reared up onto his hind paws, flailing his claws about to challenge anyone to take him on. He emphasised the challenge with a fierce battle yowl that would have made the infamous Tigerstar of old proud.

Understanding, Mosswhisker lashed out her thorn sharp claws at any cat hoping to take advantage of Blizzardshard's unprotected back. She was about to lauch herself at a particularly persistent tom, when suddenly she heard a ground shaking yowl erupt through clearing. She noticed most of the RiverClan cats backing off, bleeding, torn and now terrified. "I don't think they can take much more!" she called over her shoulder.

Bliizzardshard, in the moment of breathable air, risked a glance around. Then his amber eyes widened and a delighted yowl escaped his muzzle. Shiningheart and Venomwind had just exploded from the undergrowth, seemingly the whole of ThunderClan behind them. Shiningheart ran to his side, brushing up against him in relief. "Thank StarClan you're okay." She muttered, turning to glare raging death at the RiverClan cats. Her unsheathed claws twitched as she stalked dangerously toward the river-rats. "Hello." She growled sweetly.

"Nice timing!" Mosswhisker panted gratefully as she saw the ThunderClan deputy burst into the clearing. A ripple seemed to flow through the enemy patrol and the cats who were most injured turned tail and fled back through the reeds towards their own territory. The rest, which only consisted of four now, advanced on the ThunderClan cats. "We dont need them to beat you!" the cat at the head of the group yowled charging at them. Another she cat near the back of the patrol leaped at Mosswhisker, who met her with claws thrashing.

Shiningheart and Blizzardshard refused to leave each other's side. When a paw flashed out to claw at the enemy, the other was right there to protect the undefended flank. Venomwind stayed by Mosswhisker's side, never leaving the younger warrior alone.

But Blizzardshard was too slow to get to Shiningheart's left side. A tom jumped on the ThunderClan deputy, biting deeply into her fleshy shoulders. Blizzardshard gasped and batted the tom away, as easily as if he were flinging a kit. "SHININGHEART!!" He yowled desperately. Shiningheart collapsed onto her side, her blood making a tiny trickle down her pure white fur.

Mosswhisker had a she cat pinned beneath her sturdy paws when she heard the blood curdling yowl from Blizzardshard. The she cat slipped from her grip and ran off. She took a step forward "Forget it," she muttered to herself - it looked like the bulk of the RiverClan cats had retreated and the rest were not to far from the same- before turning and dashing over to the large white warrior's side. "What's--" Mosswhisker broke off as she neared, seeing the limp pile of delicate white fur. Her green eyes widened, shock and terror froze her limbs. "Oh, no..." Mosswhisker squeaked. She bent her gray head towards Shiningheart and gave her a quick sniff before continuing,"Will she be ok? What should we do?".

Venomwind, after sending out the final warrior, padded to their side. She too froze at the sight of her sister's blood-covered body. "Not again." She whimpered. Blizzardshard, startled by her voice, went into action. He used his tail to scrape some fallen leaved together. He quickly picked them up in his mouth and pressed them against the deputy's wound, trying to stave off the bleeding as much as he could. "Venomwind!" His voice ordered her attention. "Go to camp, get Mosspelt." He gathered more leaves with his tail. "Mosswhisker, go find cobwebs. These leaves won't do much until we get her actual help."

Not again... Mosswhisker paused for a quick moment before turning and pushing through the green fern wall behind her. Cobwebs, I need cobwebs she thought trying to keep her cool. The thought of the scarlet stained deputy bleeding out her life on the edge of ThunderClan territory made her heart race. Where are all the cobwebs?! Mosswhisker was beginning to panic. Whirls of red, yellow, and green danced before her as another cold blast of wind glided through her fur. Suddenly, she felt a gentle tug on her shoulder fur. The gray she cat jerked her head around and gasped with relief as she laid her green eyes of the delicate white swaths of cobweb. Quickly, but carefully, Mosswhisker wrapped her paw with the cobwebs and returned to Blizzardshard. "Here, this should be enough," she mewed proudly.

Blizzardshard looked up from examing Shiningheart's wound. His amber eyes were dark with both worry and gratefulness. "Thanks." He murmured, unwrapping her paw with his teeth. At the same time, his tail was gently brushing the stained leaved lightly from the unconscious deputy's wound. When both his teeth and the leaves were gone, he pressed them against her wound, almost as if he had done this before. Oh wait, he has done this before!

"What's going on?" Mosswhisker asked as she noticed a strange look enter Blizzardshard's dark eyes. "I thought I heard Venomwind say something.... 'Not again' I think," her green eyes were brimming with curiosity, she had never seen anything but strength from her deputy, but obviously, the other two warriors had. Mosswhisker's paws were pacing the ground anxiously as she urged the white warrior to speak.

Blizzardshard didn't look up while he was checking to see if the entire would was covered. "It has happened before." He meowed softly, a look in his eye as if he were remembering something. "It was so much like this time..." He murmured, like he were alone and talking to himself. "I was too slow back then as well. A battle against RiverClan, when we were apprentices." He glanced at Mosswhisker. "I don't know if you were born yet. A RiverClan cat came out of the blue, and hit her exactly where her wound is now." He shook his head sadly. "But then, it was all the way down to the bone." Blizzardshard crouched down on Shiningheart's uninjured side, pressing against the unconscious deputy. "She would have died if I hadn't known how to press cobwebs correctly." His next words were cracked. "I don't know what I will do if she dies this time."

"No good fish eating, carcass breaths!" Mosswhisker growled. Rage burned in her eyes as she listened to Blizzardshard's story. "The wound isn't as deep this time," the gray she cat murmured, "You put the cobwebs on right; she will live." Mosswhisker turned her head up towards the sky and sent a silent prayer to StarClan, asking for the deputy to be safe. She turned suddenly towards something that sounded a lot like rustling. "Did you hear that?" she asked Blizzardshard. She got tp her paws and stood in a defensive stance in front of Shiningheart. Please be Venomwind...

It was Venomwind, but she was alone. Her eyes, so much like Shiningheart's, were wide with panic. "I can't find him!!" She yowled loudly. The fear-scent coming from both Blizzardshard and Venomwind was overwhelming.

Blizzardshard tried to keep himself from panicking. "Okay, okay. That's fine. We just need to get her to camp..." He looked down at Shiningheart a bit uncertainly. "But the issue is how to do that without agitating her wound further..."

Mosswhisker took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment her heart was pounding like a trapped pigeon. Then, she felt an icy claw freeze her senses and she felt eeriely calm. "If we all carry Shiningheart slowly and try to keep her body even, we have a good chance of getting to camp without any trouble. We need a couple more cobwebs just in case," the grey she cat meowed quietly, her voice slow and even.

Blizzardshard nodded in approval. "Take Venomwind to where you found the cobwebs." He ordered weakly. His shield against the wave of anguish was crumbling fast. "Then you both get as many as you can."

Venomwind looked at Blizzardshard worriedly, not budging from her spot. She could sense his resolve dissolving into a pile of small pebbles. "She'll be okay, Blizzardshard." She meowed to him, her voice almost the same pitiful mew Blizzardshard's was. "Shiningheart has shown nothing but strength her entire life. She'll get through this." She looked around at all of them. "We all will. Now let's go get some cobwebs!" She looked at Mosswhisker to follow her.
