NEW DEPUTY!!!

"Wispstripe." He finished, choosing a warrior at random.

The femme blinked. Had the leader just called her name? For deputy, too? Or was her hearing going as well? She looked around at the other cats, who seemed to be looking right at her. She noticed that her jaw was open in disbelief, and she quickly shut it. It took her a second for the words to sink into her cranium. Coughing tensely, she said quietly "Me? For deputy?" And quickly stood up, to walk over to the Pointedstone. From afar, she looked somewhat composed and calm. But, for any cat that could hear her thoughts or see her from up close, they would see that she was shaking, both physically and emotionally. She had never expected herself to ever get this job, not in her whole life. She always pictured herself as a warrior, not as a possible leader.

Leaping onto the sacred Pointedstone, she stood beside Eaglestar. "T-thank you, Eaglestar." She said, stuttering at first. Nodding her head, her eyes sparkled with sincerity and amazement. Turning her head towards her clanmates, she gave them a nod, blue orbs scanning the crowd, before jumping off and back into the crowd.

[Ashpaw]

Ashpaw's ears flicked forward as Eaglestar announced the new Deputy.

"Wispstripe."

Ashpaw's eyes darted around the gathering of cats, scanning around for the Warrior. Finally, he spotted her as she made her way over to the Pointedstone. The young apprentice watched along with the rest of WindClan, admiring how calm she seemed from afar even after receiving such a position.

What a lucky cat. He thought to himself. I wonder what it must feel like to become Deputy of the Clan.

He shook his thoughts off and turned his attention back towards Pointedstone, watching as Wispstripe leapt down from Pointedstone after thanking Eaglestar for choosing her.

Eaglestar waved his tail, demanding attention back to him. "Also," he meowed to the assembled cats, "it has come to my attention that two of our apprentices need mentors." He looked between Inkpaw and Smudgepaw. "Inkpaw, Smudgepaw, get your furry butts up hear." He meowed jokingly, twitching his ears to the spot in front of the Pointedstone.

[Hamster]

Smudgepaw was listening, her head bent low. "Wispstripe," Eaglestar meowed. She smirked to herself. I knew Wispstripe was going to get the deputy spot.

"Also, it has come to my attention that two of our apprentices need mentors. Inkpaw, Smudgepaw, get your furry butts up here." Her head snapped up at a mention of her name. She tried not to show her excitement as she padded towards the Pointedstone, occasionally glancing back to make sure her brother was following. When she was at the top, her eyes flitted back and forth nervously. Excitement was turning to fear, and nervousness. What was she supposed to do? Where was she supposed to stand? She was failing at nonchalancy. Badly, at that.

Eaglestar smiled down at Smudgepaw, trying to calm her down. "Oh calm down." He meowed to her. "It's not like I'm going to eat you." He purred in amusement.

[Hyena]

Inkpaw bounced with excitement, both for Wispstripe as the new deputy, and for he and his sister finally getting mentors! He couldn't suppress a purr, his deep amber eyes shimmering like stars.

Eaglestar looked around until his gaze landed on his newly named deputy. His amber eyes brightened as a thought struck him. "Wispstripe, you shall be mentor to Smudgepaw." He nodded, silently agreeing with his choice. "As my deputy, you are an experienced mentor, and I trust you will mentor Smudgepaw will call the care and trust your mentor taught you with."

[Hamster]

Smudgepaw blinked at Wispstripe and closed her eyes as the new deputy touched her nose to the apprentice's. Then she twisted around and looked at her brother, Inkpaw. Who would he get as his mentor? She also glanced sideways at Eaglestar. He seemed to be making these decisions on the fly; was he really sure of waht he was doing?

Inkpaw looked towards his sister, grinning at her gently. He gazed up at Eaglestar, the nervousness suddenly hitting him, making him feel sick to his stomach. But at the same time, he had never felt more excited in his whole short life.

Eaglestar looked at Inkpaw. For this one, he had actually THOUGHT about his mentor. "Duststorm," he called to the tom, "you will be mentor to Inkpaw."

Smudgepaw's eyes gleamed with a mixture of mischief and excitement as her brother recieved his mentor. Her eyes darted from Eaglestar to Wispstripe to Inkpaw, waiting for a cue on what to do next. She ought to have stepped down from Pointedstone by now, but she waited for her brother.

Inkpaw looked over to Duststorm, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He knew he was supposed to do something now, but his mind had gone blank.
