Waking

Flamekit woke up with a start. Something had awoken her, but what? "Must of just been my imagination", she muttered after a couple minutes of watching and listening. She tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. Finally she got up and sat outside, thinking. Then she saw a rock. She knew she should just turn around and go back to sleep, but the temptation was just too inviting. She slowly got up and crouched, planning to try sneak up on it. But her legs were a little wobbly still and she fell, making a 'mph' sound as she did. She quickly got up and peeked around behind her, hoping no one had heard.

Eaglestar woke up with a start when he heard something scuttling outside. He growled silently in his throat before standing and padding silently to the entrance of his den. His claws out of his paws of their own accord and he stuck his head out of his den, fully expecting to see an enemy warrior. But instead, he saw a kit sitting outside of the nursery. Eaglestar's amber eyes widened. Why was a kit out at this time of night?

Flamekit sighed. "Good, no one heard me." She got up and went forward a couple steps. She stopped completely when she suddenly smelled a very strange smell, coming from the forest...Maybe. "Aw, I'm just a kit, what would I know?" She grumbled to herself. But in turning she saw Eaglestar watching her, and froze.

((Eh, I do anything wrong? XD))

((No, you didn't do anything wrong. As a matter of fact, for a noob, you're doing pretty well so far.))

Eaglestar chuckled when Flamekit froze. He slid neatly from his den and approached the small kit, shaking his head. "I saw that." He meowed, twitching his ears at the small rock the young cat was stalking earlier.

"O-Oh...Hi Eaglestar! Uh...I was just..." Flamekit looked at her paws and gulped. Then, taking a deep breath, she thought to herself: "It's no use to deny it anyway, I may as well." Out loud she said "Um, well, what did you think?"

Eaglestar grinned, laying down on his stomach so he could talk to the small kit on her level. "Good try, for someone as young as you." He ruffled the kit's head-fluff with a paw. "Posture and balance will come in time."

Flamekit grinned happily. She loved getting compliments, especially from her leader. Then she thought of something, "Hey, Eaglestar, I think I smelled a strange scent over by the forest, but I'm just a kit so..."

Eaglestar raised his head to a sudden breeze and smelled the air, opening his jaws a little to taste the air. His muscles stiffened and his fur raised a little. "Badger." He growled, gripping the ground with his thorn-sharp claws. He looked down at Flamekit and smiled before licking the kit between his ears. "Well spotted, Flamekit." He meowed, nodding his head in approval.

" Badger. Well spotted, Flamekit." "So that's what badger smells like..." She said to herself. "One day I'll be the greatest Warrior in the clan!" She stopped, did she just say that out-loud? She look up anxiously, had he heard her?

Eaglestar laughed a bit at the anxiety flashing in Flamekit's eyes. "I'm sure you will, Flamekit." He meowed to her, a purr in his voice. "All kits think that at your age." He added on. "Your mother, Wispstripe...Even me!" He shook his head a bit. "And, admittedly, I AM the greatest warrior ever." He finished with a playful twitch of his ear. 'I'll have to tell the Dawn Patrol to keep a look-out for that badger.' He thought.

Flamekit sighed with relief, glad she hadn't offended or anything. But when Eaglestar said he was the greatest warrior ever, she had a funny look on her face but didn't say anything.

Eaglestar caught the look Flamekit was giving him. He gave her a rather kittish pout. "What?" He whined. "I was kidding!"

Flamekit grinned, trying not to laugh. She couldn't help it, Eaglestar looked so funny. When she finally trusted herself to talk, she said: "Oh, I know Eaglestar! The idea's just so silly. " She replied jokingly.
